about us

Crossland Tankers was formed in 1988 to manufacture, refurbish and repair road tankers. We began designing and building new tanks on a small scale in the early 90s, with major investment in design and product development seeing tankers for the waste, milk, and general purpose chemical markets being produced by the late 90s.

At this time we decided to put a major push on sales and marketing and at the same time, further expand our product range. This approach was well accepted by both existing and new customers and our sales increased significantly.

In early 2003, we bought Massey Tankers, based near Burnley, which we took over in April 2003. The management and workforce in both Burnley and Swatragh have stayed in place and Massey has been re-named Crossland Tankers Limited.

With two excellent purpose built facilities and a combined skilled workforce of over 100 people, we are determined to supply products and services which meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.

Production facilities

At Crossland Tankers we have the most modern manufacturing facilities available. We recently installed a new six metre seam welder, which reduces the number of circumferential welds per tank, resulting in faster production.

We are already renowned in the industry for the high quality finish on our tanks, and the new seam welder improves this even further so much so that it actually reduces the amount of grinding and polishing normally needed for the inside of the tank.

We also have a new six metre plate roller, which means that a rigid tanker can be rolled in one section, rather than three, which vastly improves our production capabilities. As well as manufacturing new tankers, we also refurbish and repair tankers. Our fully qualified and experienced craftsmen carry out a number of different refurbishment activities, such as cut and stretch, re-cladding and remounting of the tank for a second life.

We also undertake full accident repair work from minor damage, resulting in one panel replacement to major damage, for example, replacement of half or more of the tank shell, complete with new insulation, cladding and full repainting. Any repair can be quickly and efficiently handled guaranteeing customers a first class finish.

Pro Engineer ModelDesign facilities

The use of 3D modelling is proving to be a real boost to the design offices. Complicated moving assembles can be drawn up and manipulated on screen saving time on corrections on the shop floor. This is proving to help reduce our lead times. It also allows a customer to accurately visualise his product before manufacture.

Paintshop facilities

At Crossland in Burnley, we have one of the largest paint booths in Lancashire. The booth is 23 metres in length, and has the facility to be split into one large booth and one small booth. This means that we can work on two at once a trailer in one side and a tractor in the other side. This means better turnaround and reduced down time for customers, which we always endeavour to offer our customers.
